Across the country, workers, students, and families are standing up on May 1 to demand a country that puts people over billionaires. We demand:

Billionaires and big corporations have rigged the system in their favor so it only works for them. They get richer and richer while working people stay behind. If billionaires have broken every rule, it will take more than a rally to stop them; we have to interrupt business as usual.

Join other Northside youth leaders (ages 14-24) and allies for a youth-led action from 9:30-11am on May Day (May 1st)! Location to be announced, in Southeast Rogers Park. Afterwards, we'll continue as a group to the mass march and other actions!
Workers, students, and families across the country are organizing a nationwide day of no work, no school and no shopping. Meet us downtown at Union Park at 1pm to march with ONE Northside, or meet at our office, 4750 N Sheridan Rd at 12pm to travel together. Wear your orange ONE Northside shirts!
The ultra-wealthy and big corporations across Illinois are celebrating $9 billion in tax breaks they received from the Trump administration in the “Big Billionaire Bill,” while Illinois faces a budget shortfall and our elected leaders discuss cutting vital social programs to make up the difference. Email your state elected officials and Gov. Pritzker and call on them to stand up to Trump and his billionaire agenda and generate the necessary funding for essential programs our families rely on.

May Day is International Workers Day.
It is a historic workers’ holiday commemorating the Haymarket martyrs in Chicago and the fight for the eight hour work day rooted in a simple truth: when working people move together, the rules can change.
From enslaved Africans breaking the confederacy with their general strike, to the creation of the eight hour work day, to the 2006 Day Without Immigrants, to Black-led campaigns that have unseated CEOs, to organized resistance to occupation in Minnesota, working people have shown how collective action shifts power. When we withhold our labor, our spending, and our consent, those at the top are forced to respond.
May Day 2026 builds on that legacy. Learn more about the history of May Day here.
Rallies, marches and events are planned all across the country on May 1, 2026, coordinated through May Day Strong. May Day Strong is a coalition of hundreds of organizations across the country, including labor unions, faith-based groups, community organizing groups, and many more, united around a common vision that we deserve a better future.
In Chicago, many groups are participating in May Day 2026, including labor unions like the CTU and community organizing coalitions like Grassroots Collaborative.
