Members of our Violence Prevention team and Building Safe Communities team came out last night to support the 20th District Council! It's important for us to be involved in this vital part of our government - dedicated members of the community who listen to our concerns and work on police accountability and oversight! If you want to get involved, join our Building Safe Communities team by filling out the Get Involved form on our website!

On May 22nd, ONE Northside is going to Springfield

On May 22nd, ONE Northside is going to Springfield for a lobby day, and we want you to join! With the state budget deficit and the potential cuts to funding from our Violence Prevention and Parent Mentor programs, we know that our programs can continue to get the money they need if our state works to tax billionaires and mega corporations just a little bit more. Showing up and using your voice to advocate to your state legislator alongside other members of ONS and organizations across the state makes a HUGE impact, and we need you that day!We will meet to get on the bus at 5:30am sharp and get back to Chicago around 7pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. We will do a training on zoom the week before the trip to prep you on what to expect if this is your first time -- everyone is welcome! Yesterday we joined @onepeoplescampaign, @grassrootscollaborative, and the thousands of allies and supporters who came out for May Day to say NO to corporations buying our government, NO to targeting immigrant communities, NO to attacks on LGBTQIA people, NO to the dismantling of our government. We have to keep showing up for our people!

Today our team joined our allies in the IL Revenue Alliance and leading state elected officials to demand that the Illinois General Assembly and Governor Prizker do their part to fight back against the Musk-Trump Administration’s plan to cut health care, destroy Social Security, and stoke a recession that will hurt everyday people — all to pass trillions in tax breaks for Trump-aligned billionaires and cronies.Illinois has the opportunity to reject harmful program cuts on the local level and start to turn around our state’s regressive tax structure by passing the needed revenue solutions that ensure the wealthy pay their fair share.
