This month, our members and volunteers in the Broadway corridor voted to endorse the proposed upzone that would bring increased density to this area. We determined this aligns with our longstanding housing justice priorities. We also know that while density is necessary for affordability, it is not enough. We strongly support the retroactive trigger of the Affordable Requirements Ordinance in this proposal, and we will organize in support a wide range of policies to promote affordability and prevent displacement. Are you curious about community organizing but not sure if you can do it or how you might fit into community organizing work? Start here! Our one-hour orientation on Zoom will go over community organizing, ONE Northside's work, and help you understand how you can get involved in the work of building a more just and equitable world right where you live.June 16, 6pm-7pm. At the end of May, the state legislature passed a

At the end of May, the state legislature passed a budget that included some big wins for our budget priorities, including funding for our Violence Prevention team and the Parent Mentor program, and new progressive revenue solutions that come from making corporations and the ultrawealthy pay their fair share. We are so grateful for everyone who worked so hard to support our team this year to push for these budget priorities. We also faced some big losses in this budget cycle though, including the Health Benefits for Immigrant Adults Program and billions more in progressive revenue that was left on the table. With our allies in the IL Revenue Alliance we will keep pushing forward to protect our communities and families.

Join our Violence Prevention team on Thursday, June 19 for their fifth annual Juneteenth celebration in Pottawattomie Park! Everyone is welcome. Bring your own chairs or blankets to this fun summer event celebrating Black history and culture and the love in our neighborhoods. Food and drink will be available (first come first served), games and activities for kids, including a bounce house, music and dancing, and a fun summer vibe. Come through 1-7pm.
