Next week, our Violence Prevention team @cp4ponenorthside will be out in the community in Uptown and Rogers Park sharing warm gloves and hats with anyone who needs them -- all items first come, first served. They will be at Broadway and Wilson on Jan 30 from 3-5pm and at 747 W Howard on Jan 31 from 3-5pm. This week the ONE Northside organizing staff and P

This week the ONE Northside organizing staff and Program Managers held a three day retreat so we could align our goals, plans and intentions for the year. We have big challenges ahead of us in 2025 but we rely on each other and will work together, with our partners in the North Side and across the city, state and country, to be as prepared as possible and work hard to keep fighting for our people.

Earlier this week a group of leaders and staff gathered for a bittersweet celebration, as we sunsetted Mental Health Justice as a core organizing issue and wished Pastor Fred Kinsey a happy retirement! Longtime leaders and past organizers reminisced about the team’s amazing victories, like winning an increase in the Medicaid reimbursement for mental health costs in 2018 (which impacted more than 780,000 people!) Mental Health Justice will always be a core principle of our work and a lens through which we view all our organizing efforts. We are so proud of all the work we have done and the work of all the MHJ leaders over the years.
And a special cheers to Pastor Fred who was a key part of this team for over ten years, and a part-time organizer at ONS for the last year! PLUS our faith leader organizer! Pastor Fred is a shining example of a leader who puts his values into action. Enjoy retirement, though we know we will see you around soon!

Thanks to the students and staff at Senn High School for welcoming our Basebuilding Organizer Eliza for a recent presentation on Green Schools! She talked about this campaign our Environmental Justice team has been working on, to make our schools healthier and more climate change ready! She also talked about how students can organize around issues they care about.
